Abhishek Sharma’s Record-Breaking First-Ball Six

This historic first-ball six was scored by Abhishek while chasing New Zealand’s score of 225 runs in the first T20I match played at Hagley Oval. It was his first delivery against Matt Henry, which Abhishek dispatched over the boundary for six from the last ball of the first over.

India Beat New Zealand After Record Chase

Despite the quick hitter falling to 29, Abhishek’s aggressive batting played its part as he made 93 runs for the opening partnership with Sanju Samson, who made 67 off 33 deliveries.

Ultimately, India managed to get to 230/6 in 19.4 overs, making the highest successful run hunt in the history of T20Is to defeat New Zealand by four wickets. An unbeaten 42 from 15 balls by Naman Dhir was very helpful in the latter half of the game.
