CJP protest news: Delhi is preparing for major transport disruptions on Saturday, October 10, as the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) plans a protest at Jantar Mantar over alleged irregularities in voter-list revision and demands for accountability from Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The planned demonstration has triggered extensive security measures, including Delhi Metro station restrictions and railway cancellations. Delhi Police has denied permission for the proposed protest, citing concerns over public safety, law and order, and traffic management.

Delhi Metro Closed Today: What Commuters Need to Know

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that entry and exit gates at 57 metro stations will remain closed from 9 PM on October 9 until further notice, including during October 10. Interchange facilities are expected to remain available at affected stations except New Delhi Metro station, according to the published advisory.

Major stations affected include Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Patel Chowk, Kashmere Gate, ITO, Mandi House, New Delhi, Hauz Khas and Lajpat Nagar. Metro train frequency may also be reduced depending on security conditions.

Passengers should check the official DMRC updates before leaving home, as restrictions may change.

CJP Protest: Which Trains Are Cancelled?

Indian Railways has cancelled trains arriving at and departing from New Delhi Railway Station and Hazrat Nizamuddin between 4 AM and 2 PM on October 10, citing anticipated severe traffic congestion around the stations. Several long-distance services, including Rajdhani and other premium trains, are affected.

The cancellation list is not the same for every route. Check your train number and PNR through the official Indian Railways enquiry website.

Why Is CJP Protesting?

CJP and other groups have raised concerns about the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and are demanding accountability from the Chief Election Commissioner. Authorities say the restrictions are precautionary measures to prevent crowd movement towards sensitive locations.

Is Delhi completely shut? No blanket citywide bandh has been announced. However, metro access, railway journeys and travel around central Delhi may be significantly affected. Commuters should allow extra time, verify services before travelling and follow official advisories.

This report is based on updates available on October 9, 2026. Transport arrangements may change as authorities review the situation.
